1 cup lentils 2 cups water (to start) 2 tbsp oil 1 tbsp garlic paste 1 tsp tamaric (careful with it, it stains everything) salt and pepper to taste parsley

Bring to a boil and then simmer until lentils are soft. Add more water (probably another cup) as it's cooking. You want it thick but cooked.
