Looking Back - 2013 A Year of Self Portraits

Self Portraiture has been a huge part of my life. Through imagery I found myself. I love looking back at those images and seeing how far I have come - in confidence, body image, and skill.

2013 was the year of just plowing through. We had two more years of school, things were plodding along just fine. Nothing stressed us out, it was just a year. I took approximately one photo a month of myself. It was usually when I was bored and wanted to play or had lots of time before work. The daily outfit posting almost came to a complete halt and I became a little more adventurous in my shooting. It's nothing extrodinary by any means but it was a lot for me.

Kevin was also a lot more involved in my picture process. Sometimes behind the camera, a place he hates and sometimes posing with me. He would rather pose with me in the picture than take it. I, of course, took advantage of this and made him pose with me lots throughout the year. I love all the pictures I have of the two of us that year.

The photo that really challenged us both, was when we were heading to a wedding and I wanted to capture the moment. A photo in the house wasn't good enough, it needed to be outside! So after parking at the wedding venue I precariously placed my camera on top of the car and managed to snap two photos before another guest wander over to talk to us. It was super embarrassing and the photos turned out blurry. But it was done!

My favorite photos of the 2013 are these two, One where we randomly matched one morning before work and school. The other of us in the bedroom hanging our fan.

Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life.
