MORE ABOUT ME
JUST A FEW YEARS AGO, I WAS A DIFFERENT PERSON. I WAS MISERABLE, STUCK IN AN EXTROVERT’S JOB, TRYING TO MAKE IT THROUGH EACH DAY. SOME GOOD THINGS HAPPENED, SOME BAD THINGS HAPPENED. THAT JOB ENDED AND FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE, I HAD NO DIRECTION.
I picked up my feet, moved us from Calgary to Lethbridge (Alberta, Canada), and settled in to wait. My husband, Kevin, had just graduated and was mass applying for jobs. We were waiting for a job to work out before deciding on what to do next. While waiting, I began my recovery process. After years of avoiding emotions from dealing with people who broke boundaries, my body decided to fight back. I was flooded with memories, emotions, and a lot of rage. It was there that I had my first panic attack, and I struggled to deal with people on a day-to-day basis. I chose to only be with close friends or family.
Late in the summer, Kevin got offered a job and we moved to Madison (Wisconsin, United States). Moving countries put me in a unique situation. Due to the type of visa I have, I am not allowed to work. Becoming a stay-at-home wife was never my plan and I am struggling to find balance and fulfillment. However, it has allowed me to deal with the aforementioned emotions.
I have grown so much in the past two years we have been in the states, learning how to better handle my emotions has helped me greatly. This space has become a sanctuary, allowing me to write, explore, and share what I have been going through.
I hope you’ll join me in my journey.
