I gave away over 90% of my clothes when we moved. 5% of what was left no longer fits, so I gave away that too. So I am left with 6 shirts, 3 pairs of pants, a ton of hoodies and a heck of a lot of yoga clothes. I also have a few dresses and skirts, that I never wear but keep for sentimental reasons. In general having a wardrobe built around working out doesn't bother me.
Until I have an event
An event that makes me want to dress the way I feel and then this incredibly, insane, desire for something new hits me.
I don't need new clothes. It's silly to buy more, considering how I spend my time - yoga. I'm almost at the point where I have a different yoga assembly for everyday of the week. Seeing as I do yoga daily, this is a good thing. But yoga clothes don't work for "going out" and I feel trapped in the outfits I do have.
My sense of style has massively changed over the past few years. Before I was business professional wear. Now I'm black, gray, white "grunge". It's what I like wearing and am comfortable in, when I can pull it off. However, I am still stuck in the old clothes and struggling to find my new idea of comfortable. I don't know how to buy black, gray, white "grunge". Which is why I stick to mostly yoga gear.
How do you dress the way you want when you have no idea how to even get there?
We live in a world were we are taught instant gratification. Clothes are "cheap" and easy to access. It's when you start to be picky about styles, ethics, and quality that you run into problems. And that's where I am. Unsure where to start and trapped by the old me.
My question to you is, what would you do?
I'm a lifestyle blogger, covering deep subjects including body images, battles with food, and overcoming how I was raised. I try to be as authentic as possible and I don’t sugar coat how I see things.
