The sounds in my house have been pretty extraordinary since spring decided to shine down on us, here in Wisconsin. I wake up to the sounds of birds chirping. They might chirp in the winter but I won't know because the windows are closed. Today though, every single window is open except for one and that one is only closed because of the massive wind that blew it off it's hinges yesterday. Yesterday the windows were open too and tomorrow I think it will happen again. I'll take the wind, the clouds, and the random burst of rain just to listen to the birds all day. They'll disappear again once it gets too hot but for now they are lively and I feel bad that I haven't picked up more bird seed.
The other day I could hear people talking and lots of clapping and it went on for about an hour. I couldn't see them but they were loud and obnoxious and full of energy. After a bit, the sound of running could be heard and I looked out to see about thirty half dressed people run by. They covered the street, stopped traffic, and made their way to a running path nearby. They too, were excited for the warmth of spring. And while yes I am wearing shorts in the comfort of my home and all my windows are open, it's not quite warm enough to brave the outdoors in so little clothing. But it's getting there. Spring brings all kind of brilliant noises and I am happy to sip my tea and take it all in. Eventually I'll be sitting on my rocking bench enjoying the light.
