Welcome to my Living Room. This is the place we workout in, where we cast YouTube Videos and chill at the end of the night. This room isn't done, but its done for now and it's comfy. Within two months of us moving in we decided that having the TV mounted was the best place for it. So we bought a TV mount and hated it. It was crooked and hung far from the wall. So after discussing it with building management we decided to buy a different one and try again. There are a lot of holes behind the TV. But I am so glad we got it done right.
I then spent days shoving the couch back and forth trying to find that perfect spot. For Christmas we got a soundbar, chromecast, steambox, and an invisible shelf all of which went under the TV and over the fireplace. Currently we have the PS3 up there until I figure out another way of playing my workout DVDs.
This is our first "adult" couch. Previous to this we've had 80s flower couches or futons. It is so nice to have a comfy couch. You could spend the night on this couch and wake up feeling great. We went with black because of my purple hair. One corner is raised with a cushion and the other is a normal corner type. You can see a full shot of the couch here. The reason we went this way was so Kevin could use his laptop on the right side of the couch and I could game from the other and we could still be together.
Beside the fire-place is my "hope chest", which was made by my Grandpa and painted by Kevin's Grandpa. It needs a new paint job and some loving. But this is the only thing I've owned since I was a teenager. We store extra cords and electronics in it. One day I'd love to have one remote, but for now we are stuck with - one to turn on the TV, one is for the soundbar and the phone is for us to cast from.
My favorite part of the living is this spot
Eventually I think I will put my reading chair where the plant is. But for now this corner is perfect. I also love that we got this map framed. In our old place we used thumb tack to hang it on the wall, so it has some wear and tear. But having the posters framed and knowing their history, kinda just like this area more. Framing and hanging these suckers was no easy task though, and we are perfectionist through and through.
I'd like to get something to put in front of the couch, something like a tufted pouf. And a white shelving unit where my hope chest is. But something I slightly mentioned at the top was that we workout in this area. Everyday we do yoga, Kevin is between the couch and the fire-place and I am to the right behind. This picture is a more accurate representation of the room on a daily basis.
I've since added weights to my growing collection of workout equipment. I never move this stuff unless we have people coming over, so it feels silly to add a pouf in front of the couch when it means more stuff. It would never be in place unless company was over! If you have any ideas, let me know!!
Other than the pouf and shelving unit, the only other things I want to do is wall art (for the right wall) and recover the pillows (so they match the house colors). Would love to hear your thoughts!
