I made chili for the first time. I never thought I would be the type of person to make chili, but it's cold out and one day I called up my mother-in-law and she was making it. It sounded so good that I got the recipe off of her and made it the next day. I made a big batch that lasted us four days, lunch and dinners for me and dinners for Kevin. It was perfect!
The Recipe: 1 pound hamburger, 1 taco seasoning mix, 1/4 onion, 2 tsp chili powder, 1/2 tsp sale, 1 can tomato soup, 1/2 cup tomato juice, 1 can of beans (kidney or brown), as many mushrooms as you like (I did 3 cups). Brown the hamburger and add the seasoning and then add everything else and simmer on the stove until your hungry. When I made it I did a full can of tomato paste instead of juice and kidney beans. It was perfect and thick. So much so, that I bought all the ingredients to make it again only a bit spicier. Second time I got the spicy taco seasoning, I added roasted garlic (which if you have never done, I highly recommend doing it, and I should have done three not one) and we bought chili beans instead of kidney beans. It turned out even better.
We finally made an effort to go on our Zoolights adventure! I was so excited! I picked up Kevin from work, we went out for dinner, found where we were going, parked, spent ten minutes bundling up and headed to the door. Only to discover that it was closed due to bad weather! I am not sure why Wisconsin thinks bad weather is -10 and no falling snow, the storm didn't start until 2pm the next day... grrrrrr. Guess we'll try again on another night.
I got my fabfitfun box in the mail. I always love these boxes, they make my day and are full of surprises. Inside was lots of goodies as usual and I have some favorites and some I'm "muh" about. The butter mascara came at the perfect time, my mascara had just run out and I was trying to figure out what to buy next, and now I don't have too! This one does take forever to dry but makes my lashes look lovely, especially compared to the cheap one I was wearing before (never buying drugstore mascara again!). Not pictured, is the Moleskin planner. I wasn't going to buy a planner for 2017, but this arrived and I've decided to use it for planning out my blog posts for the year. It's got lots of room and hopefully should work, we shall see! I am not a huge fan of how the month calendar is separate from the weeks but it's still functional. My only wish is that it was black. The Winter in Manhattan Beach lotion is lovely and I want more! The candle is interesting, I am happy to have another soy candle and will definitely burn it and maybe take their advice and put a succulent in it once it's done. Though I have way to many containers for plants as it is! The only thing I won't use is the Mineral Peel, because I have sensitive skin and that would burn my face off, I am hoping to trade it.
New computers, new keyboard, new monitor! I am so happy to have a working machine that doesn't crash when I run two programs at once. It is quick and efficient when using photoshop and can handle every test I put it through! My keyboard is white, so is my computer case and I now have duel monitors! It's perfect and lovely. It was totally worth the 10 years we took to finally make this purchase.
One day out of boredom, I went into World Market and in there I discovered three lovely pieces. One hooks on the wall and the other two hook onto it. Now it hangs above my sink, holding my kitchen knives, my soap, wipes, and sponge. It's perfect and has made counter space so much cleaner. I've been looking for something to hold my knives for forever and this is the perfect solution. The best part was that the whole thing was only $40! It feels like a steal of a deal. Usually I have 4 knives but one was in the wash. Now I just need to upgrade my knives to pretty black and steel ones!
Yoga. I talked about it in my Just Us for the Weekend post. It's good to be feeling stronger and I found a yoga class I want to take. Now to just do it!
My Christmas Tree has made me so happy. Every morning I wake up and turn on its lights. I got to watch it out of the corner of my eye while making breakfast and smell it all day long. I think this is a new Christmas tradition and I might be talked into a bigger one next year.
Redesigning pieces of my blog. I have rewritten my about me page, it's updated to reflect this past year. I also updated all my images on my pages and worked on Our Travel Journal and my Self Portrait Project. It was a lot of work to get it all looking the way I wanted it to, but I am so happy with the result. I am still working on a few other pages, like Bloggers I Love, but it is coming together.
And lastly my favorite moment is, whenever we hop into the car for some random adventure I've found, Kevin is always down for it! He always has the directions up and ready to guide me to the location. He never complains about me dragging he around to weird markets or events. He doesn't care when I start panicking and leave after being there only five minutes. It's perfect and makes me so happy to have found someone who is up for the same types of adventures that I am!
What are you top ten moments from the last week?
