Cover Thoughts: not quite what I imaged girls of that century wearing. But the estate behind looks right.
Review: This is much more the type of story I was looking for. A light interesting read about girls... with dresses, jewels, and balls well kinda. There was servants, mystery, a little romance. One girl was brave but not the one you thought it would be. Another made a decision while expect there was still a twist. And the girl who should have been brave story just kind of died out.
Rowena - I loved Rowena in the beginning. But she didn't turn out the way I thought and in the end I was disappointed in her character. I was very surprised by the amount of drinking in this story. Especially the amount by Rowena. I didn't think drinking was an approved activity by ladies in that day. But I can see it used as a way out of their very dull dressed up lives.
Victoria - was my favorite in the end. She did what was right and while it shouldn't have surprised me as she is always treated as the sickly one. It was nice to see her step up. I am most curious about her life story. Does she get married? Does she travel the world like Nanny Iris? Does she tell Rowena the big secret?
Prudence - was in the beginning a character assisting in the making up of the other two main characters but in the end she was a much story person than expected and I really liked her. The twist at the end was a big surprised. I excepted one part but I am not really sure how I feel about the whole general situation. I am also very curious how her new life will turn out.
My favorite male character was Sebastian... at least I am pretty sure that was his name. He set up this beautiful surprise Christmas Tree (covered in candles, which is not the safest thing in the world, but I suppose romantic!) and supported one of the female characters quite well. I think they would be the perfect match for each other if such a thing was to happen! Can't wait for book two in March!!
Oh and I love the font! :)
