If you don't know this about me, I LOVE Salted Caramel!! It is my favorite and any chance to enjoy it or try it in a new combination I do!! (Except for coffee, because that exists and coffee is evil... for me anyways) I had unmade whipping cream in my fridge that was expiring and I needed to use it up. I found this recipe and while I didn't make the banana pudding on the page I did the sauce. It was delicious!!!
1 cup sugar
6 Tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature and cubed
1/2 cup heavy cream, at room temperature
2 1/2 teaspoons sea salt
Things to note though:
I doubled the recipe to use up as much cream as I could.
Trying to take pictures in the wrong hand while stirring so it doesn't burn was hard!
I did manage to burn it a little but I was the only one who noticed that burnt flavor so it could just be in my head
The salt sank to the bottom. Next time I think instead of tossing the salt in all at once I would do little bits at a time. I ended up throwing away two rather large clunks of salt in the bottom of the pan. Probably totally 2 teaspoons worth. That said, the amount of salt that did dissolve was perfect and I would not have wanted more.
We put this one pancakes! YUM!
