Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
I have finished PRIDE AND PREJUDICE!! Another by Jane Austen. That means I have read two of her books this year. Not quite my goal! But hey, it's still progress!
I started P&P April 30 and finished November 18. That is a LONG time for me to read one book. It actually makes me question if I should even continue with my Jane Austen Project. I even read Jane Eyre in a shorter time frame.
My thoughts on the book... well I kept thinking that this book had a certain part in it. A part where Elizabeth was going for a walk and sprained her ankle and could no longer walk and Mr. Darcy happened to be horseback riding past. And that was one of my main motivations for reading P&P. I have since realize that, that scene isn't Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy, but is actually part of Withering Heights another classic book by a completely different author! (I stand corrected It's a Long Story says the part I am thinking of is part of Sense and Sensibility, which is the book I want to read next! you can also read her comment here)
I was rather disappointed we don't get to read Jane and Mr. Bennett's proposal. I was actually really sad about that. What I really enjoyed about this book is the comparison between the movie and the book and finding all the little differences. I also loved the fact that Austen ties up all lose ends at the end of the book. I think the last three chapters were my favorite. Even though I did not do individual posts on them.
I did enjoy this book much more than Jane Eyre even though it took me sooo long to read it. With taking so long to read it, it's almost like I had more time to dream about the characters and think on the story.
Can't wait to read another one. Because even if this project takes a while I still want to keep the project up. Even if that is completely contradicting to what I said at the beginning of this post!
