Caster Chronicles Book 1

Linking up with Blonde... Undercover Blonde

Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
I first started the movie and lasted less than five minutes

Then I started the book. It's not much better but at least I didn't have to deal with southern accents. I won't say this is a good book, it's definitely one that took work to read through.

I was having a conversation with someone the other day and he made an interesting point

"why do humans always have a name" for example

Harry Potter -  muggles,
City of Bones - mundanes.

In this book the humans are called mortals but what bothered me more was witches weren't called witches they were called Spell Casters. Why can't names stick to original lore. I don't understand why everyone feels the need to create their own lore. I feel horrible for future generations who have to deal with sparkly vampires!

But I am getting off topic - the book
- relatively decent story
- the characters acted their age - 16 they actually have insecurities and doubts! They miss their parents or worry about getting into trouble.
- their reactions weren't always rational but they stuck with what they wanted
- the whole thing seemed over done and yet not, it didn't manage to surprise me or wish to see it come to life or excite me.

I feel like I was destined to not like this book which makes it hard to give it a good review. I think this wasn't the book for me but I know there are many people out there that really enjoyed it! So be sure to look at other review before deciding not to read this one!

I also really like the covers of the series!
