Review: Most of the books I've read that revolve around World War 2 and the Nazis are all from the Jews perspective. I have never read one from the Nazis perspective. It was quite a change for me. Especially seeing as I started out hating the book before I even read it. All Nazis are evil and here we have a 11 year old boy totally buying into the propaganda and becoming a true Nazis.
AND then he starts to doubt. Little things pop up in his head and he doesn't understand why. His two friends pull away from him and when he finds out why he starts to listen to his inner doubts. It's amazing how much of what he did was out of fear for his own life and his families or friends.
I can't believe anyone would be so desperate to force 14 and 15 year olds into a war they hardly understand. This was a very good story and I am glad I got the opportunity to read it.
