Synopsis:

Will Somers has always thought himself unlovable. When he encounters a creature of myth and magic, he seizes the chance to finally have a wife and family of his own. Emma is a selkie—one of the immortal fae-folk of the sea—bound to Will by the magic of her kind, and eager to learn about life on land. She has to learn to adapt quickly to human customs, because Will is headed for the court of Henry VIII, to serve as the king’s fool. It’s a glittering, dangerous world, where a careless word can lead to the scaffold and the smallest of gestures is loaded with political implications. Anne Boleyn is charmed by Emma’s naïveté and soothing selkie magic and wants Emma for her own fool. Can Will protect his newfound love from the dangers that lurk in every shadow? Circa regna tonat: around the throne, the thunder rolls.

Wikipedi Selkie definition - "Selkies (also known as silkies or selchies) are mythological creatures found in Scottish, Irish, and Faroese folklore. Similar creatures are described in the Icelandic traditions. The word derives from earlier Scots selich, (from Old English seolh meaning seal). Selkies are said to live as seals in the sea but shed their skin to become human on land"

I enjoyed this book. I spent a whole day and devoured it. I love reading about Anne Boleyn and this book was a very different twist and the story. Most things I have read regarding Anne Boleyn turned her into a witch. This book completely potrays her in a different light and it's refreshing. I also like that everything is backed by facts at the end of the book. Everything talked about Lissa Bryan goes through at the end and tells you when she took Artistic Liberties and when things are based on facts or when things are unknown by everyone.

But back to the main characters. Will Somers is a fool. The idea of a fool is completely ridiculous to me. You own someone and their sole purposes is to make you happy! What a crappy job. Will Somers however exceeds at it and makes some bold promises. His deformed state makes things interesting, especially his lack of self-esteem. Thinking no one will accept him or in this case no woman will love him. I love the way Emma and Will met. It's unique and suited them well. I wasn't expecting sex, but thankfully it was explicit it was more something that happened and you moved on. Because sex is something that happens between to people who love each other and that's how Emma and Will treated it.

I loved Emma's curiosity, especially when it came to animals. Letting the deer out, saving the monkey, playing with the kittens. I also find it interesting that she sees things in pictures.

I really enjoyed the book, I wish the cover was a little better. But I can accept it. I was contacted by publisher and she asked if I wanted to do a give-a-way. Pretty exciting to me as it's my first one!!! So please enter in below!! a Rafflecopter giveaway
